I would like to start the New Year by saying thank you to
all our customers for your business and your support in
2010, especially in the difficult weather before Christmas.
We start 2011 with the exciting opportunities of new
contracts and new customer service and warehouse staff. I
believe that good service is essential to any successful
business so as we increase the number of customers we serve
we must also increase the number of customer service staff and logistics staff accordingly. We
understand that many of our customers depend on us as the
only face to face customer contact they have, at the point
of delivery, and we always go the extra mile because what's
good for our customers is good for us.
The new members of the team are; Eleanor, who will work
with Alex in administering customer requirements,
Lorraine, who will work with Jo in optimising and
maintaining delivery schedules and James who has
responsibility for the logistics hub. As a team we
really appreciate the opportunity to serve our customers
and would be delighted to talk to you about how we might
create an Avanti
service that matches your specific requirements.

Below is a brief summary of
the new contracts for 2011. In the next few months I hope to
give detailed case studies of these projects to enable you
to see whether your business might benefit from our
services.
1. UK TableTennis and UK Table Sports:

New
Logistics Partner

We are pleased to inform you that we
have appointed a new logistics partner
for the warehousing and delivery part of
our table tennis and football tables
business.
We have worked with FDA for over 2
years and throughout this time they have
provided an excellent service.
However, customers are becoming
increasingly demanding in their
expectations and it is primarily for
this reason we have taken the decision
to move to a new service provider.
The new specialist courier service
is
Avanti Express who
are based in the North West.

They are able to offer delivery to the
customer’s room of choice (at no extra
cost) and work on a standard lead time
of 2-5 working days from receipt of
order. If requested, tables can be
unpacked for inspection and
all packaging removed. A signed delivery
note will then constitute acceptance of
the goods.
This is all good news. There will be no
increase in delivery charges for you,
the distributor, and the assembly charge
of £40 + VAT per table remains
unchanged. This is customer-driven
company and they contact all customers
within 24 hours of order receipt.

2. Original online furniture retailer :
Estimated value £200,000 per annum
Our second new contract is for one of the original
online furniture stores in the UK selling ready made
bedroom, lounge, dining room and home office furniture.
Avanti
provide a two man, timed collection service
from fifteen UK manufacturers, on the retailers behalf,
whilst the overseas manufacturers deliver direct to
Avanti's
logistics hub in Manchester. Collections from the UK
manufacturers can be from single items to a full truck
with fifty items.
Avanti are responsible for all storage,
picking, despatch, two man delivery and for contacting
the end consumer to arrange an accurate delivery slot.
The Avanti
service has enabled our customer to restructure
their own logistics costs.
3. Wide range of high value furniture: Estimated
value £50,000 per annum
Our third new contract is for a smaller company, but one
with a wider range of higher value products. Avanti collect
living room, dining room, kitchen, hall, bedroom, home
office, bathroom, conservatory and garden furniture from
five manufacturers, spread around the UK. All the goods
are stored in our logistics hub where they are inspected
and repacked for delivery. Our customer service team are
provided with a list of delivery addresses, almost all
residential, and then undertake the task of contacting
the consumer to arrange a two man, timed delivery. In
many cases the
Avanti driver(s) will phone ahead before
arrival and carry the furniture to the appropriate room
in the house and remove the packaging.
4. Mirrored furniture: Estimated value £25,000
per annum
Mirrors are one of the most fragile items of furniture
to handle and our fourth new contract specialises in all
types of mirrored furniture. Initial collections have
been from the customers own warehouse however, as I
write this newsletter, we are awaiting delivery of the
first container from China. We will unload the container
and check the delivery against the consignment note
before carefully storing the items at our logistics hub.
Though not as bulky as sofas or wardrobes many mirrors
and mirrored furniture items require a two man delivery
due to their fragile nature.
